  • My new sister Emily...

Well, it's been a while, let me tell you.  =)  I've been so busy with life this year that I've really not spent any time writing or reflecting... which is sad, I think, because so much has happened!  I have a new sister, I have an amazing job and so many new friends in residency...  I'm  SO happy.  =)  Something has changed about me, too - and although I can't really place it, everyone in my life who has known me for a while has mentioned it.   All I know is that I'm really content.  =)

BUT - the point of this little update was to celebrate my little sister, Emily, who just spend her first thanksgiving with us as an official family member - I love her SO much that I can't imagine my life without her!  My other little sister, Paula, (yes, there are four girls...just imagine the drama!) and I sang a song I wrote for Emily's adoption day - and were finally able to record it for Emily, so I also posted it online here for you (just go to the audio section at the top).   This song is special for us because our church, friends, and family all were there to hear it and celebrate with us... such a wonderful memory.   My family all feels as if there has always been a place reserved for Emily in our family - as if there has been a hole in our family, waiting for her.  =)   The song talks about how God seems to have set it up that way so that when Emily did come to be with us, we would immediately love her as if she'd always been there... and it's amazing, because we do!   When I hear mom, Kate, or Paula talk about Emily, I hear so much love and affection in their voices - I know they feel the same way I do.  We're hooked!  We're committed for a lifetime, and LOVE it.  =)

Hope you're enjoying this holiday with your family -

  • FLORIDA Vacation... t-minus 2 days and counting...

I'm looking forward to my family's yearly vacation to Florida SO much - just to warn you I won't have access to internet much so bear with me...  I'm planning a few trips to the beach while I'm there...

too bad you can't sit on the beach for four days without getting sunburned...  I think four days straight would just about cover it.  =)

FIVE FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT THE BEACH:

    1.  waves make great background noise

    2.  it's hard to frown while walking in sand.  Try it.

    3.  You get to ask the question, "wanna make a castle?"

    4.  casual dress required - NO SHOES

    5.  you cannot take your COMPUTER on the beach

  • Grace, grace...

"it's your kindness, Lord, that leads us to repentance..."

this has been a learning week for me... learning to:

     - pray to stay humble before I enter the hospital

     - spend time thinking grace as a means of strength

     - trust God to do "tomorrow" by focusing on today
