  • My new sister Emily...

Well, it's been a while, let me tell you.  =)  I've been so busy with life this year that I've really not spent any time writing or reflecting... which is sad, I think, because so much has happened!  I have a new sister, I have an amazing job and so many new friends in residency...  I'm  SO happy.  =)  Something has changed about me, too - and although I can't really place it, everyone in my life who has known me for a while has mentioned it.   All I know is that I'm really content.  =)

BUT - the point of this little update was to celebrate my little sister, Emily, who just spend her first thanksgiving with us as an official family member - I love her SO much that I can't imagine my life without her!  My other little sister, Paula, (yes, there are four girls...just imagine the drama!) and I sang a song I wrote for Emily's adoption day - and were finally able to record it for Emily, so I also posted it online here for you (just go to the audio section at the top).   This song is special for us because our church, friends, and family all were there to hear it and celebrate with us... such a wonderful memory.   My family all feels as if there has always been a place reserved for Emily in our family - as if there has been a hole in our family, waiting for her.  =)   The song talks about how God seems to have set it up that way so that when Emily did come to be with us, we would immediately love her as if she'd always been there... and it's amazing, because we do!   When I hear mom, Kate, or Paula talk about Emily, I hear so much love and affection in their voices - I know they feel the same way I do.  We're hooked!  We're committed for a lifetime, and LOVE it.  =)

Hope you're enjoying this holiday with your family -

    ~S

Awww... :)  Shelah, your post is so sweet.  Totally gives me the warm fuzzies.  I haven't met your new sis yet, but I've definitely prayed for her.  I'm very happy to see your post!

    Hello Ms. Shelah,
You made your site simple yet elegant. I see that you have a wide variety of interests!
Now is a good time to learn about the true God, Jehovah, and find out what His plans are for us. 44 "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.” (Daniel 2:44) (NIV)

Haven't been here in forever. It gives me great joy to hear that you're feeling content and happy. I didn't really get the impression that you were content and happy before, either. So it's good to hear that you are there now.
